# Quickstart > Go from a domain you own to a working two-way mailbox in about ten minutes. ## Before you begin Have these ready: - A domain you control, such as `tiny.studio`. - Permission to change that domain’s DNS records. - A name and local part for the first mailbox, such as **Tiny Studio** and `hello`. > **Your website stays put** > > Mail and websites use different DNS records. Adding Startup Mail’s mail records does not move or > replace your website. ## 1. Create the workspace Create an account with your work email and verify it. Then follow the in-app steps to name your workspace. The person who creates it becomes the owner. Every workspace must accept the current outbound email policy before sending. ## 2. Add your domain Open **Settings → Domains**, choose **Add domain**, and enter the root domain without a protocol or path—for example, `tiny.studio`, not `https://tiny.studio/about`. Startup Mail prepares exact MX, DKIM, SPF, and DMARC records for the domain. ## 3. Publish and verify DNS Copy each record into your DNS provider exactly as shown. Return to Startup Mail and choose **Check records**. Verification can succeed in a few minutes, but provider caches can make it take longer. Do not create the mailbox until the domain is marked **Verified**. ## 4. Create the mailbox Open **Settings → Inboxes**, choose **Add inbox**, and select the verified domain. Enter the local part, display name, and visibility: - **Shared** lets every workspace member read and send. - **Private** grants content access only to its owner and invited people. ## 5. Test both directions Send a message from a personal address to the new company address. Open it in the Startup Mail inbox and reply.
