Send email people expect.
Effective August 2, 2026
Allowed email
Use Startup Mail only for person-to-person conversations and transactional messages that the recipient explicitly requested, initiated, or must receive as a necessary part of an active account, purchase, support request, or direct conversation.
For any optional message, you must have the recipient’s explicit request or permission before sending it.
Permission and identity
You must be able to explain why each recipient reasonably expects the message. Use accurate From, To, Reply-To, subject, and routing information; send only from domains you control or are authorized to use; and never hide who is responsible for a message.
If an agent, integration, teammate, or compromised credential sends through your workspace, you remain responsible for that activity. Apply appropriate human review, recipient checks, and sending limits to automated workflows.
Prohibited sending
- Marketing newsletters, promotions, bulk campaigns, or drip sequences.
- Cold outreach or messages to purchased, rented, shared, or scraped contacts.
- Sending to an address after a bounce, complaint, opt-out, or request to stop.
- Email-address harvesting, enumeration, list washing, or consent fabrication.
Prohibited content and conduct
- Phishing, spoofing, impersonation, fraud, deception, or credential theft.
- Malware, destructive code, exploit delivery, or unauthorized security testing.
- Harassment, threats, hate, sexual exploitation, or unlawful content or activity.
- Content that infringes privacy, intellectual-property, or other third-party rights.
- Attempts to disrupt the Service or evade identity checks, suppression controls, attachment filters, quotas, or sending limits, including through multiple accounts.
Recipient care
Keep recipient data accurate, secure your account and API keys, send only from domains you control, and promptly honor any request to stop. Do not use Startup Mail as a substitute for a consent and subscription-management platform.
Executable files, scripts, HTML files, and archives are not accepted as attachments. Do not disguise file types or attempt to bypass content and malware checks.
Delivery standards
Keep complaint rates below 0.08% and bounce rates below 4%. These are maximums, not targets. We may pause sending sooner when message volume is small, feedback is severe, or a pattern indicates abuse.
Startup Mail records bounce and complaint feedback, suppresses affected recipients, limits new workspaces, and may automatically pause sending when feedback indicates risk. We may inspect relevant metadata or content, reject or quarantine messages, require evidence of recipient permission, and suspend or terminate activity to protect recipients, other customers, and our shared provider reputation.
Enforcement
We consider severity, message volume, recipient harm, prior incidents, and your cooperation. Serious or repeated violations may result in immediate suspension or termination without a refund for the affected period. We may preserve and disclose relevant records when required by law or reasonably necessary to investigate abuse.
Report suspected abuse to hello@startupmail.dev. Include the sender, recipient, approximate time, and message headers when available.
